Criminal justice clients in Egypt make their way into alcohol and drug rehab centers due to the fact they were found guilty of drug related crimes, whether they were distributing drugs or had drugs in their possession or were under the influence of drugs. Some judges put these types of persons into the alcohol and drug rehabilitation system mainly due to the fact that they believe that rehabilitating these persons will be more productive for society and for the individual, rather than sending them behind bars with no rehab at all. This has been verified to be very successful not only in helping and rehabilitating this type of client in Egypt, but also in keeping them sober and in many situations out of the criminal justice system permanently.
