Rehabilitating persons who are addicted to drugs and/or alcohol and have found their way into the criminal justice system has proven effective in curbing repeat drug related criminal offenses for individuals that do take advantage of treatment programs. For criminal justice clients in Little River Academy that do partake in alcohol and drug treatment programs, even if not of their own choice as is occasionally court ordered, these persons have a far better chance at dealing with the crux of the problem so that they can remain abstinent and away from negative influences and [[[committing drug related crimes. The costs to the criminal justice system associated with these drug related crimes is also affected positively when criminal justice clients turn out to be rehabbed in drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities in Little River Academy in lieu of jail time or other penalties.
